Ibeleji Chidinma, a deaconess in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has narrated her experience in the hands of kidnappers and how she gained freedom from them yesterday.

According to her, she was kidnapped alongside four other passengers on Friday along the Benin-Sagamu expressway in Ogun state while travelling from Southeast to Lagos.

She said she was then taken to the forest but was rescued in the early hours of yesterday and taken to the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta.

Speaking at the ministers’ conference on Saturday, she said she prayed that her abductors would sleep and they did — and that was how she was able to escape.

Narrating her testimony in Chruch, she said, “I was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen on my way to the camp from Abia State. After they took me into the bush, I prayed that my abductors would sleep and they did,” she said.

“I then started walking away from the place. I walked for three hours before I found a commercial motorcyclist.

“I explained my predicament to him, and he volunteered to help me to a police checkpoint not far from where I had emerged from the forest.

“The policemen took me to the Ogun State Police Command, where I provided useful information that led to the rescue of the four remaining victims.”

BREAKING: Police rescue one out of five abducted RCCG pastors

The Ogun State Police Command in the early hours of today, said it has rescued Deaconess Ibelegbo Chidinma, one of the five victims kidnapped at J3 Area in Ogbere,Ogun State, on Thursday.

The Command in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the victim who was rescued unhurt, is with the Police at the Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Abimbola assured that the remaining four abductees would be rescued from the kidnappers den safe and sound, based on the ongoing effort of men of the Command.

Our correspondent recalls that five people said to be Pastors of RCCG were kidnapped while travelling in a commercial vehicle from the Eastern part of Nigeria to Lagos.

Hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers stopped their vehicle and took them into a thick forest.

The Ogun Police Command said it had located area where the kidnappers were with the help of an helicopter on the directive of the IGP to comb the area.

While the PPRO assured that the victims would be rescued through technical operation that would not jeopardized the lives of the victims.

The statement said, “The Ogun State Police Command has rescued Mrs Ibelegbo Chidinma the only woman amongst those abducted yesterday unhurt.

“The woman who is a Deaconess of The Redeemed Christian Church of God regained her freedom in the early hour of today 3rd of August 2019, and she is currently at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta where arrangement is being made to take her to the Redemption Camp.

“Efforts is on top gear to rescue the remaining victims as the kidnappers who kept them in separate locations were changing their locations from time to time within the forest.”

NUPENG Suspends Planned Industrial Strike As NNPC intervenes

The National leadership of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has suspended the proposed industrial  stike action due largely to the timely intervention of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), today, having engaged NUPENG and all concerned stakeholders at two separate meetings yesterday to correct the anomalies and ensure that the agreement is respected.

The NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF NUPENG , Comrade COMRADE WILLIAMS AKPOREHA  in his press statement said, "Nupeng   wishes to inform the rank and file members of the Union and the general public that following the intervention of Mallam Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director and his management team to avert the proposed industrial action of NUPENG over the blatant breach of agreement reached with the Union by Chevron Nigeria and its Contractor and considering the fact that appreciable progress is being made as discussions continue, that the Union hereby suspends with immediate effect the planned industrial action slated for next week.

"It should be put on records that this abrupt suspension became inevitable due largely to the timely intervention of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) having engaged NUPENG and all concerned stakeholders at two separate meetings on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd day of August 2019,to correct the anomalies and ensure that the agreement is respected".

All our members are directed to step down the RED ALERT message, continue rendering their normal and lawful services to the nation while members of the general public are also enjoined to avoid any panic action/measure as we assure all and sundry of normal supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country.

He further said, talks are still ongoing between NUPENG and all affected stakeholders to amicably resolve the matter putting into consideration the collateral economic damage the industrial unrest could possibly lead to in the country if not immediately nipped in the bud.

'It is our firm belief that the ongoing talks will meet the yearnings and aspirations of our demands and that of our overstretched and hardworking members in the interest of industrial peace and harmony', he added.

Gunmen abduct five RCCG pastors yesterday in Ogun State

Gunmen have abducted five pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on their way to attend the Ministers’ Conference in Lagos.

Disclosing this today while giving a talk at the Redemption Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the General Overseers of RCCG worldwide, Pastor Adeboye said the abduction took place yesterday along the Ijebu-Ode axis.

He, however, admonished the congregation to pray for the release of the abducted pastors.

According to Pastor Adeboye, this kidnap incident would be the first time such would be happening to any pastor of the church.

“As a father, how do you think I should feel to hear that five of my children have been kidnapped while on their way to attend the Ministers Conference?” Pastor Adeboye asked rhetorically.
