BBNaija All Stars: Ebuka Reveals New Twist For Eviction

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Host of the Big Brother Naija ‘All Stars’ season has announced that from next week, Biggie will introduce an 'Eviction Jury' (judges) that comprises of ex-housemates.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu made this known yesterday, Sunday, July 30 2023 during the live eviction show.

Ebuka said the judges who will comprise of ex BBNaija housemates from different seasons will deliberate to save one of the housemates with the least votes.

Starting next week, Biggie will introduce a Jury, made up of ex housemates who will decide on the housemate that will be evicted.

“This will take place after the judges have been presented with the All Stars housemates with the least vote.

“They are called the Eviction Jury and they’ll be in charge of evicting #BBNaija all stars housemates.” Ebuka said.

ECOWAS Imposes No Flight Zone on Niger

In its bid to neutralize and put an end to a sudden coup d’état in the Niger Republic, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has ordered a no-flight zone over the country.

The action was made known today by the ECOWAS, at an urgent meeting following the increasing chaos stirred by the military personnel who are attempting to take over in Niger.

ECOWAS move which includes air and land border closure, is seen as a crucial reaction to the recent ascendancy of the junta, which has stirred unrest in the country and poses a threat to political stability within the region.

The ECOWAS leadership believes that the imposition of a no-flight zone will help curb the junta’s influence and hinder any potential allies from providing aerial support, even as leaders of the coup fear that the regional body could stage an imminent military intervention in the capital of the Sahel country

In addition to the no-flight zone, the regional body has agreed on immediate financial sanctions over the coup and has given the junta a week to cede power, while noting that a use of force has not been ruled out.

ECOWAS also insisted that President Mohamed Bazoum remains recognised

Sed as president of Niger, called upon member states and the international community to uphold and respect this decision, to help restore peace and stability in the republic.

Speaking at the emergency meeting which he presided over today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who serves as Chairman of the ECOWAS denounced the coup by military leaders in Niger Republic, saying Africa has come of age.

Briefing leaders of the regional bloc, Tinubu registered the displeasure of ECOWAS at the coup d’état in the Niger Republic.

“Africa has come of age, we reject coup and interruption to constitutional order,” the Nigerian leader said amid applause.

“As African leaders, it is our sheer responsibility to foster stability and progress, placing the wellbeing of our people at the forefront of our endeavours.

“Working together towards their prosperity and happiness must always constantly be our goal and consistently, we will stand with our people in freedom and our commitment to the rule of law and not the barrel of gun

The request by the DSS followed Emefiele’s re-arrest by the agency from the court premises in Lagos, after the court had ordered his remand in a Correctional Centre while awaiting the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

The DSS’s counsel, Victor Ejelonu, chose to withdraw the matter after the judge raised questions about the court’s jurisdiction, given the exclusive rights of the Magistrate Court to grant detention orders under sections 293 and 296 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act

Just In: Emefiele granted N20m bail

The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of N20 million with one surety in like sum by the Federal High Court in Lagos State.

He was granted bail after pleading not guilty to the two counts bordering on the alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Emefiele is facing two counts of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition preferred against him by the Federal Ministry of Justice before the vacation judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo.

The ministry of justice is prosecuting him on charges of possessing a single-barrelled shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a licence.

He is also accused of illegally being in possession of 23 rounds of live ammunition (cartridges) without a licence.

The defendant committed the offences on June 15, 2023, at No. 3b Iru Close, Ikoyi area of Lagos

Just In: Suspended CBN gov Emefiele arrives court with Bible (See Images)

Godwin Emefiele, suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), arrived at the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos, around 9:18am on Tuesday, clutching the Bible. 

The holy book was tucked inside a red paperback.

Emefiele is scheduled to be arraigned before Nicholas Oweibo, the presiding judge, over alleged “illegal possession of firearms”.

On June 9, President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele and asked him to transfer his responsibilities to Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, deputy governor, operations directorate.

Governor Adeleke appoints 21 board chairpersons

A day after Governor Adeleke swore in 25 commissioners and three permanent secretaries the Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed chairpersons for the boards of 21 parastatals in the state.

This was announced on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday.

The appointments came a day after the governor swore in 25 commissioners and three permanent secretaries in the state.

The two developments came eight months after Mr Adeleke was sworn- in as the governor of the state.

Prince Abdulmalik Uthman, also known as Man Like Abdul, is now a graduate with honours from Adeleke University, Osun. 

Uthman celebrated graduating from the university with an appreciation post on his Instagram page @manlikeabdul_omw.

 Uthman said it wasn't an easy journey for him but he was grateful to be able to make it.

His post reads:

'it was a Difficult Journey but I made it. Bachelor of Engineering. Popsi will be like, that's my son he is now a graduate and I really want to use this medium to appreciate my beautiful mother.'

 Prince Uthman is the only child of the late Obama of DMW. Until his demise, he was Davido's manager while doubling as Davido's close pal.
