"Content Component key To Enhance Nigeria's Educational System To A Global Standard-"TETFund Secretary

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in its bid to efficiently enhance the standard of education in Nigeria to an acceptable Global standard has decided to channel their effort to content component as opposed 12years Infrastructure development.

The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, making this announcement yesterday, in Lagos, at an interactive forum with stakeholders' said, "the vision of TETFund is to be a World Class interventionist agency in Nigeria's Tertiary Education Sector".

According to him, "Content component simply means, to deepen research for deeper learning and equip institution-libraries, to ensure availability of books, periodicals, equipment and other reading resources in the libraries of public tertiary educational institutions with emphasis on e-resources in line with global trends for which we are producing substantial funds for this purpose". Which are parameters to rate the standard of universities Globally not in the number of Professors

"This can only be achieved if we make educational content develop, more equipment for students to further enhance learning in  institutions which serves as a strong complement to the infrastructural development that has been witnessed in the past 12years"."This will enable us have employable graduates in our society

Also at the interactive session was the face of the Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) ably-represented by the Special Assistant to the Chairman of FIRS Mr Aina Abiodun the Special Assistant to the Chairman of FIRS said, " in other to recuperate Nigeria's economy more attention should be given to education".There should be a paradigm shift to education.

"FIRS is a body supplies TETFUND the TET collection information on a monthly basis" through the  Revenue Accounting Department".

"This body has worked hard to tax base so as secure beneficiaries to all three tiers of Government by including Tertiary Education Tax to be part of the tax revenue source for projects in the tertiary education sector in the FIRS drive ", he said.

Speaking to Oyinlola Awonuga at the close of the event, Bogoro said, TETFund will accomodate National Researches from both private and public tertiary institutions to achieve national growth and development.Also, the scheme has sponsored 24,385 academic staff for bench-work Ph. D programmes in Nigerian Universities to carry out research work in foreign institutions with advanced facilities and more will be sponsored".
