Knowledge, fundamental resource in developing and empowering Nigeria's business environment-Study

In a bid to transform the narrative of Nigeria's business economy, the Founder Nigerian Knowledge for Development Initiative,  said knowledge is the fundamental resource in developing and empowering Nigeria's business environment.

Making this announcement , yesterday in Lagos, the founder of the Knowledge Initiative, Prince Lekan Fadina at the first Nigerian Knowledge for Development Partnership Roundtable said, "knowledge is about creativity and the psychological perception of logic and reasoning. As we face disruptive activities in all sectors of human endeavour. The proposed Knowledge Agenda can address them and improve efficiency, increase productivity and enhance energy supply. This is the focus of the roundtable meeting with the theme, "Knowledge Agenda for Nigeria".

According to him, this will help in the creation of jobs and economic emancipation of the country, as Nigerians need to learn how to transform knowledge to practical examples as the era of white-collar-job is gone".This initiative is set up to provide services for public and private organizations, government, non-governmental organizations, development partners and individuals who are desirous to meet the challenges and take advantage of the Knowledge economy in order to co-create better cities and knowledge societies.

Speaking with Leadership correspondent, Oyinlola Awonuga at the event,  the Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Former Secretary General of the United Nations, Amb. (Prof.) Ibrahim Gambari, said, "Nigerians need to start tapping into knowledge in the process of educating themselves. People need to understand why they are being educated, and their purpose of what they are into. Education should be seen as a means of contributing to the community which is a way of increasing the  value-added to the economy.

"We shouldn't see education as just going going to school but Nigerians should see education as a means of transforming the economy.As the true business of business is to stay in business .We should see what they are doing in other countries a typical  South-African leader believe the true business of business of business is to stay in business", which we should aswell emulate".

"Also, by 2030/ 2050 65percent of our population in Africa will be young people what do you want to do for them? So, we need to invest in knowledge and technology. Digitilization has come to stay whether we like it or not more reason this conversation has to change our perception as we face this reality."

Speaking at the close of the event, the  Counsellor, Rep Amb.Counsellor of Austria, Mr Guipo Stock, said, "Nigeria leader's should base its investment on general education which is the basis to help transform the economy, the primary thing is to acquire education and secondary education.More needs to be done in the field of education and vocational training. Mechanics, technicians to transform the economy narrative in Nigeria."

The President Lagos Chamber of Commerce (LCCI) ably-represented by Deputy Director (LCCI) Toke Mabogunje added that, managers of the nation's economy must turn developmental challenges to opportunities, and improve sustainable livelihood of all Nigerians by leveraging on the potential of technological knowledge through research networks which will accelerate innovative systems to grow the economy."
