Musa Usman, from Giljimmi, a Fulani settlement in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, had served Mr Verghese, the Managing Director of a pharmaceutical company, Jawa International Limited in Lagos, for 25 years.
And when it was time to reunite with his family in the village, his boss, an Indian man decided to show his gratitude to Usman.
To appreciate a faithful employee, Verghese offered to build a house for Usman, but he had been wanted a borehole in his community instead.
According to Usman, who lives in a thatched house with his family, people in his community trekked a long distance to get water.
Verghese while speaking during the commissioning of the borehole said he did it because Usman had shown a high level of honesty while he worked with him.
“Musa has served me diligently for 25 years. We would travel to India and leave our house under his care and behold, we would meet everything intact. He is indeed an honest Nigerian, ” the former boss said.
Usman while thanking Verghese says he has no regret whatsoever for turning down a house gift for a borehole for his community.
