‘What My Marriage To Funke Akindele Has Taught Me’ – JJC

Tags

Funke Akindele and Husband, JJC Skillz
Nigerian producer, JJC Skillz has shared some personal informations about his marriage to ace actress Funke Akindele.
JJC, in an interview, opened up on his marriage to the mother of his kids, saying he has learnt a couple of things.
In his words;
“The moment I met Funke Akindele, I knew she was going to be my wife,” he said. “I told her that straight away the first time we met, but she didn’t believe me. Here we are today as one beautiful family.”
“Marriage to Funke has taught me to be patient. I needed to be patient and I have learned that a lot. Men and women are not from the same planet, but we both live on earth. A happy wife is a happy life.”
On how he felt welcoming a set of twin boys recently, he said; “Since the birth of the twins, everything has been double-double for us. My music business is going well. I have a complete beautiful family and everything is going smoothly for us.”

As a lady, would you propose marriage to a guy?

It is not new that the lifelong institution called marriage has always witnessed men proposing to ladies; but the latest trend in the society is moving away from the age-long tradition as women are taking the bull by the horns to propose to their male partners. This might not seem strange to many although it goes against the convention backed by religious practice in this part of the world that a man would leave his parents to cleave to a woman and they shall become one. Proposing marriage is an open request from the men to women, it ordinarily involves the man begging for an affirmation or negation as to a new lease of life together. However, with the recent trend of women proposing marriage, would you as a lady propose marriage to a guy?
On WhatsApp Conversation, these are what those who joined the conversation and our expert have to say on the issue:

Anita Nwosu
I will not try such but if he refuses to propose then I can give signs that I want to be proposed to.

Rachel Oladiran
I won’t. He is my fiancé and I believe he will propose at some point.  If he doesn’t, it might be because he doesn’t want me or something. So, I will rather wait for him to propose.

Comfort Abolade
I can’t make such move. I can only do that if I am a foreigner.

Annette Chikodi
Never. I like ring but that does not mean I’ve to propose to a man to get one. Believe me, and I love myself too much to do that.

Balikis Jimoh
Yes, I can.  If the feelings are mutual and obvious and I realised that if I don’t get married to him, I would be a loser at the end. It doesn’t matter who proposes. As far as there’s love, trust and understanding, we’re good to go.

Debbie Ochogwu
I will do it but only because I want to. Humanly speaking, I always do whatever I want to do without much regards to societal norms.

Favour Uka
I don’t think I would, Well, I believe I’m to be chased; sought after and the proposal is part of this process. Proverbs 18:22 ‘He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the Lord”

Margret Bolaji
As a lady I can’t propose to a guy. It’s not ideal for a lady to propose to a guy (in culture) we all know it might go wrong.
Blessing Owuh
Well, I won’t really propose marriage to him directly. What I will do is to ask him if he is ready or willing to marry me.  If his response is positive, we go on, if otherwise, then I have to end the relationship.

Similoluwa Ayeleke
I won’t like to propose to a guy because the guy will be thinking that I might be feeling that he is not capable enough which will eventually result to me not enjoying my marriage as a result of that.

Busola Sebiotimo
I won’t. I’m a woman. I’m to be pursued. When I start doing the pursuing, something is wrong. I cannot love my man more than he loves me so I shouldn’t be more eager to marry him by proposing marriage to him.

Happiness Udoh
As Nigerians, our culture doesn’t permit that; and the Bible says, “that the man will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife,” not the woman doing such! This means that a woman isn’t supposed to propose to a man.  But in a case where a woman does that, it means that she’s so desperate to settle down with the man.

Expert Speaks
Kemi Akinbobola, a marriage and relationship counsellor is our expert on this issue.
A lady who proposes marriage to a man has lost her self-worth because the man would first call her names when things begin to go sour. Such a lady will never be good for a man who is not ready for commitment. Ladies are precious jewels that should be cherished and sought after, not the other way around.  And they should note that a man can never achieve his complete purpose in life without them. Thus, a lady proposing marriage to a guy should be likened to a jewel handed over to a pig, it can never know the value. It is not a crime when a lady asks the question on what next? When the relationship is going forever without a focus.  Also, not to forget that marriage is a two-way thing, the lady and the guy.  A guy who fails to propose is not ready due to some reasons best known to him. And as such, communication would go a long way to put an end to unending questions begging for answers. When a lady proposes, she has put such a guy in a tight and unpleasant corner and would feel forced to accept something he is not prepared for especially if he is a ‘nice guy’ and does not want to turn her down. Marriage is a grounded institution with processes that should be followed to the letter. A miss in those processes could cause a life-long pain and regret. In my view, the dog should always go after the bone and never the bone after the dog.

Experts Seek Deregulation of Downstream Sector

Tags
In other to pave way for accelerated growth of the oil and gas sector, the Managing director of Financial Derivatives Company Ltd, Bismarck Rewane has called on  government to urgently deregulate the downstream sector.

Making this announcement yesterday during an interactive section with our correspondent, in Lagos Rewane said,  "on the challenges facing local oil companies listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange is strangulating the sector, noting that deregulation would  would open up the market".

"The imposition of a price ceiling on petroleum products which affect the margins of the operators will not attract the volume of investments required to scale up their operations and explore the opportunities in the value chain of the industry".

“A factor affecting the operators is that they do not have control of the pricing of their products, which shouldn’t be as they are at the mercy of others”, he added.

The financial expert admitted that subsidy as a social policy requires sensitive management. He, however, said the government must make up its mind to take the bull by the horn to free the industry of its current strangulation.

In his words, the "International Monetary Fund (IMF) had recently urged Nigeria and other countries subsidizing fossil fuel to put an end to it, noting that the policy benefits the rich more than the poor.

Though the IMF, which stated this in a blog post titled: ‘Fuel for Thought: Ditch the Subsidies’ did not name any country, it is believed that the message was directed to countries like Nigeria whose fuel subsidy has become an avenue for siphoning public resources.

A recent World Bank report said Nigeria spent N731 billion to subsidise petrol consumption last year.

He further implored  Nigeria’s government to emulate other countries who have deregulated their downstream sectors if it hopes to reposition the industry to truly serve as growth catalyst.

Also at the interactive section was the face of the Chairman of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Mr.Tunji Oyebamiji,  called for the liberalization of the sector to make it attractive for investments.

He said: “Well, we are a competitive industry. We believe in competition. We believe that when you give players in the industry a free hand to go into the market and to compete effectively, it brings out the best in them.
“Many of our facilities are out-dated and getting older. We believe that government needs to free up the industry just like it has done in so many other industries. We have seen the massive development in sectors that have witnessed deregulation which can be replicated in Nigeria," he added.

Tags
Big brother Naija, BBNaija housemate, Ike yesterday revealed real reason
he saved fellow housemate Omashola from possible eviction this week.
Our correspondent recalls that Omashola was nominated alongside Esther, Tacha, Sir Dee, Venita, and Cindy.

The housemates were nominated after an arena game challenge between two
groups, the Enigma and the Legends which had former team emerge as the
winner.
Ike who has the Veto power saved Omashola and replaced him with Cindy.
Ike’s decision did not go down well with some housemates who felt he would
have saved Tacha or Frodd.
But Ike speaking to Biggie during his diary session said he saved Omashola
and not any other housemate as expected because he helped him stay longer
in the house.
“I saved Omashola because he helped me stay longer in the house.
“From the first week about the stolen coin we have had a connection so I just
thought to save him.
“Plus I dnt know Cindy as much as I know other housemates in my team.”
