Tips to prevent hair loss

Tags
Hair loss may be caused by stress. Everyone sheds hair daily, which is
perfectly normal. It’s common for people to lose around 100 hairs a day.

Some shedding is temporary and may respond well to changes in diet, certain
treatments, or lifestyle changes. Some situations, like hair loss after pregnancy,
may resolve on their own.
Hair follicles are made mostly of a protein called keratin. Eating a diet rich in
protein may help prevent hair loss.
Washing hair daily may protect against hair loss by keeping the scalp healthy
and clean. The key is to use a mild shampoo. Harsher formulas may dry hair
and cause it to break, leading to hair loss.
Coconut oil may help prevent hair damage from grooming and ultraviolet light
exposure. Massage coconut oil into the scalp. Olive oil can also be used to
deep condition hair, protecting it from dryness and associated breakage.
Consider applying a couple of tablespoons of olive oil directly to hair and
letting it sit for 30 minutes before washing out.
Skip tight braids that may pull on hair at the root and potentially lead to
excessive shedding. Let your hair air dry. Avoid curling or straightening irons.
Chemical treatments, like perms or hair color, may also damage hair and scalp.
Avoid hair dyes containing ammonia or peroxide.
Essential oils may help reduce hair loss. Try cedarwood oil mixed with lavender
and rosemary, also lemongrass and peppermint. Mix a couple of drops of any of
these oils with a couple of tablespoons of carrier oil, like jojoba or grapeseed,
and apply to your scalp for 10 minutes before washing.

Things to avoid posting on social media

Social Networking sites are like an addiction. We share so many details of our daily lives online, but we always seem to forget to be mindful of what we share about ourselves, our families, and our friends. There are some personal information that it is best not to share online.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube, and Instagram are just some of the top networking sites that connect people around the world.
Sometimes we become too excited to share our thoughts, feelings, and important events. It has become a habit for us to share details about our daily lives.
The Internet is public, remember that! Once it is out into the Internet, it is out of your control and potentially can be used against you in the future.
Hence, be careful with what you share on social media because you never know when something could come back and haunt your life.
Here are 8 things that must be avoided:
* Unconfirmed news or Fake News – Imagine the trauma you can cause if the information is not verified. When the term “fake news” comes up, it is synonymous with creating or causing confusion which can lead to problems.
* Screenshots of personal conversations – The word itself says “private” If you do so, you might get good numbers of appreciations (Likes) for once. However, no one will value you, or would rather not share anything personal with you as they will have the feeling that you might share that conversation too.

* Your Home Address – Just avoid sharing your home address and personal phone number, unless your social profile is a very narrow one with few trustworthy people. If your profile is exactly the opposite and contains unknown people, refrain putting this at any cost. Don’t post where you live as you are making things easy for the bad guys. There’s a lot a criminal can do using just your address.
* Personal Phone Number(s) – While you may want your friends to be able to contact you, your real phone number can fall into the wrong hands through a social networking site.
* Your Financial Status – Whether you are a millionaire or middle class, don’t share your financial status with your online friends to avoid any negative exposure that might cause criminals to start haunting you.
* Explicit content – Never share such content even when you are out of your mind. The internet is huge, and things get heated up pretty quickly. The content shared on the internet never gets deleted. You might remove it from your social profile but however, you don’t know how many sites would have already captured and preserved it. Protect your online reputation.
* Current Location – Many people don’t realize that when they post a status update or a tweet, they may also be revealing their current location through geo-tagging. Giving out your location information can be risky because it tells potential thieves that you are not at home.
* Anything you don’t want to be online FOREVER – When you put something on social media, you have to assume it’s out there permanently. In the age of screenshots, there is no ‘taking it back’, even if you’ve made a big mistake.

Caucasian Woman Celebrates Black Women-'You Are Perfectly Made'

A Caucasian woman has gone, viral following her open letter to Black women asking that they appreciate themselves and appreciate the body they are in.
The woman, identified as Nicole Chilaka-Ukpo, a German woman married to a Nigerian man, apologized for all the hate black women have received over the years.
She wrote;
dear black queen
I know we have done you wrong, done you wrong so many times, on so many levels, abused and oppressed, then and now, in shackles then, in mental bondage now, we have done you wrong, we have failed you. failed to protect you, failed to honour you, failed to give you credit, failed to praise you for who you are. but instead, we glorify every copy but you. we glorify big lips, curvy body, curly/kinky hair and your braiding arts, the way you talk and walk, we glorify all that on everybody else BUT YOU.
but no more.
we see you.
your hair that defies gravity,
your skin that absorbs the sunlight and glows from within, your features that often leave other women jealous running from the tanning bed to the next available plastic surgeon, to get just a tiny bit of what you are naturally blessed with. we see you, you carry the DNA of humanity, you were the first woman to walk the earth, and we all arose from you.
you have been humiliated for everything you are, but you will eventually be celebrated again, for everything you have become.
dear black queen,
no matter how light, no matter how dark your skin is, you are perfectly made.
rise black queen, rise ??
and with you, the black nation will arise again ??

NECA URGES GOVERNMENT RADICAL ECONOMIC REFORMS

Tags

The Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA) in view of the fact that Nigeria recently signed the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) has urged Government to urgently  reassess its strategies and tailor its policies and reforms toward a radical industrialization of  the country.

Speaking yesterday in Lagos, at NECA's 62nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Director General of NECA, Mr. Timothy Olawale stated  “there is  no better time for the Government, to focus on a radical industrialization of our country as a  means of making it the hub of economic activities in the West African sub-region and also  ensure Nigeria benefits maximally from the AfCFTA. We have consistently taken the lazy path of tax increases that stifles and further burden businesses rather than the ingenious way of promoting and stimulating production”.

Olawale averred that “Government should demonstrate a bold attempt to  industrialize the country and take it out of the woods by embracing a major policy shift from  focus on taxation to production. What our economy requires now are radical far reaching  policies like the abolition of VAT on real estate sales, financial services and domestic airline ticket sales, abolishing capital gain tax on sales of shares and import duty on spare parts, reduction of VAT on small traders to 3%, abolition of import duty on machinery and raw materials amongst many others. All these will directly stimulate production and create wealth for the nation and its citizenry.”

He further stated  “production and productivity induced policies focused on the rapid development of our industrial base is the only sustainable option for our national development. We commend Government for the efforts made in the last four years to stimulate the economy and support the real sector, however, the contradictions in the regulatory environment has consistently negated these efforts."

Concluding his remarks, Olawale noted that,“if Government can muster political will, to take expected radical bold steps, Nigeria in no time might become the industrial hub of the African Continent”.

FaceApp, Four Dangers You Should Consider Before Using It

Tags
Although FaceApp has been around since 2014 , it had its minute
of glory in 2017 thanks to a function that allowed users to apply
filters to emulate different ethnic groups .
FaceApp lets users turn moody faces to merry ones , see what they
would look like grey haired and grizzled, and turn back the hands
of time , among other things. It is an app built only to please those
who really want a new way to play roulette with their own face .
However , since its launch , FaceApp hasn ’ t been without
controversy and we list the prominent ones below so that they can
guide you in your use of the app.

FaceApp result

A major concern of yours should be the access you grant the app
to your data. Like many other apps on your phone , it is not clear
what happens to all the data you give it and it is believed that the
company’ s privacy policy leaves a fair amount of wriggle room .
FaceApp ’s privacy policy . reads:
“ When you use our Service, our servers automatically record
certain log file information, including your web request,
Internet Protocol address, browser type , referring / exit pages
and URLs , number of clicks and how you interact with links
on the Service, domain names , landing pages , pages viewed ,
and other such information. ”
Security experts have warned that people who use FaceApp may
be putting their personal information at risk , including the
pictures they are sharing of themselves . The app uses “ device
identifiers” allowing the company to monitor how you browse and
use the app in order to target you with “ personalised content
which could include online ads or other forms of marketing” .
Not only that, the world is slowly but steadily tilting towards facial
recognition so you need to start treating your face like a password
because if the data you share with apps like FaceApp falls into the
wrong hands , it could be used by cybercriminals to spoof your
identity.
Reliability
Another issue that most concerned users have is that the developer
of FaceApp , Wireless Lab does not specify what would happen if
the company was dissolved or sold , nor whether it can be
transferred the fiscal direction of the same to abide by another
more permissive regulation with the data collected .
The Transformations Stack
Some people have figured out that transforming an already
altered FaceApp photo more than once can really create some
disturbing images .
Racism
FaceApp founder and chief executive , Yaroslav Goncharov had to
apologise when the app ’s “ hot” filter was tagged racist . The ‘hot’
filter purportedly made you look better by whitening the skin of
people of colour to make them look more attractive . Following the
backlash , FaceApp said it had temporarily renamed the filter
“ spark ” and the option was no longer available on the Android
version of the app.
In a statement to TechCrunch , Goncharov said it was “ working on
a complete fix that should arrive soon” .
“ We are deeply sorry for this unquestionably serious issue . It
is an unfortunate side - effect of the underlying neural network
caused by the training set bias , not intended behaviour .”

Funke Olakunrin: Ethnic groups may result to self-help ― Alaafin of Oyo

Tags
THE Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III has warned the Federal Government that the killing of the daughter of Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, may force each ethnic group in Nigeria to result to self-help security which may not be in the interest of the country at large.
Oba Adeyemi made this known in a statement personally signed and titled “the killing of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Elder statesman, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, by unknown gunmen – a disgrace to Nigeria”, and made available to journalists today.
The revered Monarch said the killing has further put a question mark on the central police system currently in operation in the country, saying today’s leaders must review the issue of power decentralisation.
He said “the killing of the daughter of the distinguished leader of Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti by gunmen is certainly one too many.

“Too many because Chief Fasoranti is one of those eminent citizens of the country to whom the security situation of the country has been a major concern. The concern shown by the likes of Chief Fasoranti on the security of the country was borne out of patriotism without the slightest knowledge that the insecurity was closed to his door.
“For a country with national cohesion and purpose, that certainly is not the best way to honour such patriotic citizens at his age. I can only pray to God who only can console Papa to wipe off the tears in him.
“The fact must also be made clear that national unity is predicated on internal security. This brings into play the current debate on the desirability or otherwise of a single centre in the maintenance of security in a heterogenic country as largely diverse as Nigeria.
“Unless something is done urgently about power decentralisation, each ethnic group may be forced to self-help security structure which at the end may not be the best for the country.”

Stop purchasing “Tokunbo tyres”, FRSC warns motorists

Tags
The Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission
(FRSC), Cross River Command, Mr Esu Ikpi, has warned motorists against the
use of fairly used tyres on the highways to avoid road crashes.

Ikpi told newsmen today in Calabar, that fairly used tyres had been found
to be responsible for majority of road crashes on the highways.
“ It is highly dangerous to use fairly used tyres on the highways, they are not
durable and cannot withstand pressure,’’ he said.

According to him, many of the road crashes are as a result of burst
tyres unlike new tires that are safer and more durable.
Ikpi said that tyres were manufactured with chemicals that expire after a period
of time and when it expires, it’s prone to being punctured easily by sharp
objects on the road.
He also said expired tyres explodes easily due to the heat on the road as the
vehicle is on motion, adding that this had been a major cause of road crashes
across the country.
“Fairly used tyres are cheaper, but you cannot use them for more than six
months without them being expired and worn out, new tyres may be more
expensive but are safer, safety must never be compromised
“Tyres get worn out and expired based on certain criteria such as, covering a
distance of 80,000 kilometres, poor wheel balancing and alignment and
others,’’Ikpi added.
The officer advised motorists to always ensure that they observe properly the
date of manufacturing when purchasing any tyre for their vehicle.
“To avoid buying expired tyres, a motorist should check for the manufacturing
date, it is a four digit number written and circled by the side of the tyre.
“The first two digit represents the week of manufacture, while the last two
digits represents the year of manufacture.

“So, when you add three years to the year the tyre was manufactured, you
would know the expiry date of the tyre,’’ he said.
He, however, advised motorists to check the air pressure in their tyres
whenever they went to a vulcaniser, adding that over inflating exposes the
side walls of the tyre to be worn out, while under inflating it, would gradually
destroys the middle wall of the tire.
“We hope to continue to educate our motorist on the dangers of using bad
tyres on our roads, as it was one of the major cause of crashes,’’he said.

is to properly empower women, saying that if you empower a woman, you have
empowered a nation.
Mega Peoples Party Candidate Calls For Women Support, Participation In
Politics(Opens In A New Browser Tab)
Continuing, she said that government can help women through skill acquisition
programmes to ensure they become self relient and that can also help them
launch into large scale businesses nationally and internationally. “This can be
done through grants and all is geared towards creating employment among
women.”
Saint Emamezi who is presently studying her LLM programme said that
developing entrepreneurship skills and reading culture help any economy to
grow and if Nigeria as a nation will imbibe on this culture better for the
country.
Speaking on her passion for writing, as an entrepreneur and lawyer, she said
when she was young, she loved reading books that were inspiring, motivational
such as Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Adichie, and also tell a good story.
Emamezi confessed that the book gave her initial inspiration to take interest in
writing, while her passion for writing is driven by the need to develop the
Nigeria child and make him or her responsible person in the family and society.
On her book, “Victoria”, she said is her first book which is a story of a young
girl in her teens, who faces life challenges right inside her family, and her
father is quite the lazy man, who does nothing more than visit friends or sit at
home doing nothing while her troublesome mother fights to make ends meet in
her home. You will have to read “Victoria” to find out what happened to her
and her family.
According to her the book is to inspire the reader, particularly children within
Victoria’s age not to give up and to also know that they can change their story
if they believe. Stressing the importance of reading culture in the country, she
agreed that one of the ways to improve the reading culture in Nigeria is by
introducing reading clubs in the nursery, elementary and basic levels of
education. “Also there is the need for school administrators to include reading
classes in the curriculum of education. The family too should play a role in
improving the reading culture of the children; the parents can make out
specific time to read with their children daily”.
As part of her contribution to empower teens, she initiated Elmore Christo kids
club which she said is a project she was inspired to establish for the benefit of
children in the age of three to eighteen years of age. “It is my way of helping
kids find their purpose in life. I also established it in the loving memory of my
mother, Mrs. Ajiri Pearl Emamezi. She always loved to take care of children and
invest in them as the women leader in the Anglican Communion (Diocese of
Western Izon). So by establishing the Elmore Christo kids club, I am continuing
from where my mum left off.

If you are finding it difficult to complete a work, try these few things to get yourself motivated.

When it looks as if the situation ain’t getting better try to remind yourself why you are doing this, write out the reasons for starting the work in the first place, select another proper agenda, think about another better option and set out for the work.

2.Find yourself a partner
Most people say I don’t need anybody before I motivate myself to get things  done. That’s a lie when you meet the right person that motivate you every day you will never regret it.

As a small as the problem might be it could be the worst killer of motivation and could creates endless frustration.
Reframe little problems that must be fixed as bigger ones or they will kill any drive you have. Build motivation to avoid the traps or problem that can stop it.

5.Take occasional breaks
That work will still be waiting for you when you get back. Avoid burning out, by taking a break.

BB Naija ‘Pepper Dem’ goes full throttle, Intrigues and excitement

Tags

Barely a week after it kicked off, the hit television reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), is already a subject of non-stop discussion among its ever-increasing fans and viewers.
On Sunday, June 30, Africa got to meet the 21 housemates for this season’s BBNaija show tagged ‘Pepper Dem’. In just six days, a combination of arguments, fights, endurance and of course, romance, has sparked huge excitement among fans, even as the siting of the show in Nigeria continues to generate positive reactions. Things have moved pretty fast in the House, as Kim Oprah clinched the Power Card in a game of chance on Sunday, while Jeff emerged as the first Head of House (HoH) on Monday.
Judging by the first few days of the show, the 21 housemates are seemingly still sizing up one another, an expected development given that different characters have converged in a single house, with some of them remaining in the house for 99 days.
An important point made by viewers on social media is that the 2019 housemates seem to be more mature than housemates from the 2018 edition, with this year’s participants getting rave reviews for their conduct thus far. However, knowing the show has only just begun, how much longer can they retain their ‘calmness’ without getting into any drama? Time will tell.
This perceived coolness has, however, not prevented the occasional emotional outbursts among the Housemates. On Tuesday, the first fight of the season occurred between two females, Tacha and Thelma, over fish! Both eventually put their emotions aside to escape being issued a strike by Big Brother. There has also been a minor dispute between Khafi and Kim Oprah, leading to distrust by the former. Avala similarly declared that she will always have trust issues with all the housemates, regardless of her closeness to any of them.
On the flip side, Omashola is already regarded by fans of the show as the comedian of the house. And it may not be hard to guess why. The handsome young man comes across as a humour bag and his happy-go-lucky way has given viewers much to laugh about.
Seyi Johnson, grandson of the late politician, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, appears to be the one with plenty of life experience and is always on hand to deliver motivational speeches. Some fans, however, view him as a chatter box.
BBN is incomplete without housemates expressing romantic feelings. Isilomo and Frodd have been quite cosy since the second day of and have even shared a passionate kiss. Similarly, Diane and Sir Dee seem to be cooking up something as they have become quite close.
But some of the housemates are not in a rush yet as they are still assessing their fellow contenders’ love interests, as evidenced by a midnight boys-only discussion among Frodd, Jeff, Seyi and the ‘confused’ Ike, who appears to be in three minds over Ella, Mercy and Tacha. How well would all these potential relationships turn out?
The anticipation for the weekly house party on Saturday nights has also reached fever pitch after housemates served viewers a sample of what to expect. Diane, Thema, Ella, Isilomo and Tacha showcased a glimpse of their scintillating dance moves on Wednesday. There is surely a lot to expect in this regard.
As for who would win the competition, we are still three months away from knowing. This has not stopped fans from predicting and Diane, Omashola, Mercy, Frodd and Mike have all been on fans’ lips or, more appropriately, phone and computer keyboards, as potential favourites.
